CLOCKHOUSE is devoted to a variety of genres, publishing fiction, poetry, memoir, creative nonfiction, as well as dramatic work. People interested in obtaining a copy can use this link: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.clockhouse.net\/\">http:\/\/www.clockhouse.net\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>David Dannenfelser \u2013\u00a0 Educator, Director, Playwright<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>David received a BA in Special Education from <strong>William Paterson College<\/strong>, an MA in Educational Theatre from <strong>New York<\/strong><strong> University<\/strong>, and an MFA in Directing and Playwriting from <strong>Sarah Lawrence College<\/strong>. He has been an Assistant Professor of Theatre\/Performance at <strong>Bloomsburg<\/strong><strong> University<\/strong> and an Assistant Professor of Theatre at <strong>Hobart and William Smith Colleges<\/strong>. David has taught Theatre courses for <strong>Wells College,<\/strong> <strong>Rutgers University (Mason Gross School of the Arts), Montclair State University, The Oberlin College Theatre Institute, Theatre For a New Audience<\/strong> in NYC, <strong>The Mustard Seed Theatre Lab<\/strong> also in NYC, and <strong>The Classic School<\/strong> in NJ. David has also taught courses in playwriting for <strong>The NY Shakespeare Festival\u2019s<\/strong> Playwriting program in residence at <strong>The Joseph Papp Public Theatre<\/strong> and for <strong>Playwright\u2019s Theatre of NJ<\/strong><em>.<\/em> He has also been an adjunct professor at <strong>Muhlenberg<\/strong>and <strong>Morris County College<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>David has directed the plays: <em>The Burial at Thebes<\/em>, by Seamus Heany, <em>Dead Man\u2019s Cell Phone<\/em>, by Sarah Ruhl at <strong>Bloomsburg.<\/strong> At <strong>Hobart and William Smith Colleges<\/strong> David has directed; <em>The Misanthrope<\/em><strong>,<\/strong> by Moliere, <em>The Water Engine<\/em><strong>,<\/strong> by David Mamet, <em>Dangerous Corner<\/em> by J.B. Priestley, <em>Lysistrata<\/em>by Aristophanes, <em>Twelfth Night<\/em> by William Shakespeare and <em>Lucia Mad<\/em> by Don Nigro. He has also directed his own adaptation of <em>The Words Upon The Window-Pane<\/em> by W.B. Yeats at <strong>Wells<\/strong><strong> College<\/strong>. David directed two plays for the <strong>Inertia Theatre Company<\/strong>,<em>Watching and Waiting<\/em><strong>, <\/strong>a collection of one-acts by Don Nigro and <em>Life During Wartime<\/em> by Keith Reddin, for which he received an OOBR award for best revival. As Artistic Director for the <strong>Icarus Theatre Ensemble<\/strong>, David has directed <em>Pullman Car Hiawatha<\/em>, by Thorton Wilder, <em>An Almost Holy Picture<\/em><strong>, <\/strong>by Heather McDonald, <em>Book of Days<\/em><strong>, <\/strong>by Lanford Wilson, <em>Wings<\/em><strong>,<\/strong> by Arthur Kopit, <em>The Long Christmas Dinner<\/em><strong>, <\/strong>by Thornton Wilder and his own radio-styled adaptation of <em>The Legend of Sleepy Hollow<\/em>. David received a Directing Fellowship from <strong>The Pennsylvania Stage Company<\/strong> (LORT) for the 1994\/95 season, where he directed fully staged productions of <em>Patient A<\/em>, by Lee Blessing and two one-act plays by Eugene O&#8217;Neill, <em>Fog &amp; Thirst<\/em>. David returned to <strong>PA Stage<\/strong> in the 1996\/97 season to direct the premiere of <em>Fish or Cut Bait<\/em>by John Holleman. David has also directed <em>The House of Bernarda Alba<\/em>, by Federico Garcia Lorca, <em>Largo Desolato<\/em>, by Vaclav Havel, <em>The Loveliest Afternoon of The Year<\/em>, by John Guare, <em>The Hour Glass<\/em>, by W.B. Yeats, <em>Going To Pot<\/em>, by Georges Feydeau (<strong>Sarah Lawrence)<\/strong>, <em>God<\/em>, by Woody Allen, <em>The Glass Menagerie<\/em>, by Tennessee Williams, and <em>The Children\u2019s Hour<\/em>, by Lillian Hellman (<strong>NYU)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>David has written, directed and produced his plays: <em>The On Being Series<\/em> and <em>Sid Berkeley Radio Slave<\/em>, at<strong> Here <\/strong>in NYC, <em>The Keeper<\/em>, a full-length radio play performed live at the <strong>Joseph Papp Public Theatre<\/strong> and broadcast over WBAI in NYC, and <em>The Boy Who Lost His Sock<\/em>, a full-length children&#8217;s play adapted from a story by Patrick Gallagher and produced by <strong>The Youth Theatre of NJ<\/strong> in Sparta, NJ &amp; <strong>The Kitchen Theatre <\/strong>in Ithaca, NY. Other plays include; <em>In Five Boroughs<\/em>, produced by <strong>Expanded Arts<\/strong> in NYC, <em>When Words Fail<\/em>produced as a part of <strong>The NYC International Fringe Festival<\/strong> in 1998 and later at the <strong>John Houseman Studio Theatre<\/strong> in 1999. The play now appears in the anthology, <em>Plays and Playwrights For The New Millennium<\/em> published by <strong>The New York Theatre Experience<\/strong>, edited by Martin Denton. His own radio-styled adaptation of <em>The Legend of Sleepy Hollow<\/em> has been produced by <strong>Wells College<\/strong>, <strong>Offworld Theatre Co<\/strong>., <strong>Icarus Theatre Ensemble<\/strong> and broadcast over the airwaves of <strong>WCPE Radio, Union County College<\/strong>. David has written many one-act plays and collections including; <em>The Catcher In Bed-Stuy<\/em>, produced by<strong>Howling Moon Cab Theatre Co.<\/strong>, NYC, <em>Jack and Jill in Christmastown<\/em> at the <strong>Short Play Lab<\/strong>, NYC and <strong>Endtimes Productions<\/strong>, NYC. His plays <em>The Blessing, Rain<\/em> and<em> Bicycle Boy <\/em>were all produced as a part of the<strong>Rutgers U. Play Festival<\/strong>, New\u00a0\u00a0 Brunswick, NJ 2008, 09, 10.\u00a0 He recently produced his new play, <em>The Medicine Show (A Play With Music)<\/em> at the 2007 <strong>NYC Fringe Festival<\/strong>. His play, <em>Gargoyles<\/em> was selected as a semi-finalist in the 2009 New Play Festival at <strong>Centre Stage <\/strong>inSouth Carolina. His short play, <em>Between You and Me<\/em> has been named as a finalist in <strong>Curan Rep\u2019s<\/strong> <strong>2011 Notes From The Underground Festival <\/strong>in NYC. David has had numerous workshops and readings of his one-acts and full-length plays and is presently working on a book of short plays for use in the study of acting.
